If you spend any time online or talking to other humans, you’re probably aware of our current national obsessions, which include politics (exhausting), Beyonce (QUEEN), and a little countertop appliance known as the Instant Pot (huh?). That’s right, people everywhere have been expressing unabashed adoration for the multifunctional device that does everything from pressure cook to make yogurt. And you can get in on all that convenient cooking by purchasing one of your own.
But there are multiple version of the Instant Pot available on Amazon—which one is right for you? From the most popular 6-quart version to larger and more advanced varieties, read on to find out more about your options and how they compare to one another.
Instant Pot IP-DUO60 7-in-1 Multi-Functional Pressure Cooker, 6Qt – Buy now for $89.95
The most popular model of the Instant Pot, the 6-quart IP-DUO60 is a 7-in-1 multifunctional countertop appliance, which combines a pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, yogurt maker, steamer, warmer, and saute/browning functionality. There are a total of 14 programs ranging from soup to poultry to porridge. The device can pressure cook at high or low pressures, which gives you the option to cook food very quickly or avoid overcooking delicate foods. It offers three temperatures for saute and slow cook, as well as an automatic keep warm function.
Instant Pot IP-DUO Plus60 9-in-1 Multi-Functional Pressure Cooker, 6Qt – Buy now for $119.95
The Plus60 is an upgrade on the regular DUO60, released earlier this year. On the whole, it’s a little pricier than the DUO60, but it makes up for that with some additional features. You’ve got all the standard features from the original model, plus Cake, Egg, and Sterilize settings. The alarm clock aesthetic of the display has been updated to a blue LCD screen, which also displays icons that indicate selected settings. The Instant Pot’s inner bowl also displays more comprehensive max/min fill lines. These aren’t massive updates, but they’re enough to make the Plus60 worth your consideration.
Instant Pot IP-DUO80 7-in-1 Programmable Electric Pressure Cooker, 8 Qt – Buy now for $129.95
Likewise, if you’d like to upgrade rather than downsize when it comes to size, the IP-DUO80 is the same as the DUO60 and DUO50, but has an 8-quart capacity. You’ll pay a bit more, but that extra space could come in handy.
Instant Pot Ultra Multi-Use Programmable Pressure Cooker, 6 Qt – Buy now for $149.95
The Ultra is Instant Pot’s newest offering. In addition to the regular buttons, there’s also a dial if you’d rather adjust that way. New functions include Ultra, which lets you set custom cook times, temperatures, and pressures, as well as Sterilize, Cake, and Egg functions which appear on the DUO Plus but not on the regular DUO.
Other cool new features include a cooking indicator screen that shows you where you are in the cooking process (preheating, cooking, keep warm) and automatic altitude adjustment. There’s a pressure release button as well.
Instant Pot IP-Smart Bluetooth-Enabled Multifunctional Pressure Cooker – Buy now for $159.99
If you think the Instant Pot sounds great but could be improved upon by adding smart home connectivity, you’re in luck! The 6-quart IP-Smart Bluetooth has all the same basic functions as the three sizes of IP-DUO, but it also connects via Bluetooth to your smartphone so you can program and monitor cooking from afar using the Instant Pot Smart Cooker app.
Instant Pot IP-LUX60 V3 Programmable Electric Pressure Cooker, 6Qt, 1000W (updated model) – Buy now for $79.00
The IP-LUX60 V3 adds cake and egg cooking programs to the lineup of functions. However, unlike the IP-DUO and IP-Smart Bluetooth versions, it lacks Bean/Chili, Poultry, and Yogurt settings, as well as an option to cook at low pressure (although it still has the ability to pressure cook at high pressure). It also comes without some of the accessories found on other models, like a condensation collector and cord rack.
